Call for Lightning Talks

We are looking for four more Lightning Talks for the PostgreSQL Anniversary.

Lightning talks are 5-minute talks on one brief topic. It's a great way to get started with giving tech talks if you haven't before; it's a good way to introduce ideas which you don't have full examples for, and it's an opportunity for those of you whose talks were not chosen for the conference.

Here's the conditions:

Each Lightning talk is 5 mintues.

You may use only up to 5 slides of PDF slides, which must be sent to the conference no later than June 15th.

You may have only a 1 page handout, which must be to the conference on the same date.

Neither slides nor handout are required.

No demos.

So, submit a Lightning Talk now! Please include your full name, and a talk title and description.

Well, the good news is that all talks are confirmed. So the list of talks in the Program is just about final.

Now, the bad news. Based on the survey we did in late 2005, and initial registration, we rented a facility which will only accomodate 85 people. Since this is our first time, we didn't anticipate how many people would wait until now to register! Enlarging the venue at this point would be very expensive and pretty much break the conference budget. So we have had to close registration.

We're holding some spots open for speakers, sponsor's staff and lead community members whom we specifically invited. If that's you, please email us so that you can get a registration exception.

Next year we will know enough to have a larger venue.
